Do You Need Memory Cleaner Mac Book Air
Optimized Storage in macOS Sierra and later* can save space by storing your content in iCloud and making it available on demand. When storage space is needed, files, photos, movies, email attachments, and other files that you seldom use are stored in iCloud automatically. Each file stays right where you last saved it, and downloads when you open it. Files that you’ve used recently remain on your Mac, along with optimized versions of your photos.
You may very well be someone who really needs more than 16 GB of RAM, and have a justifiable beef with Apple over not providing you with that option in a MacBook Pro, but you might also be surprised just how much you can do with the 16 GB, memory compression, and ultra-fast SSD in the new MacBook Pro. You’ll need to buy a MacBook Air LCD panel and an LVDS display cable, which you can check out here. Before attempting to replace your MacBook’s screen, remember that it is a very difficult thing to do. Don’t try it unless you’re completely confident that you can do it successfully. How much RAM do I need in my MacBook? Introduction: Although all previous MacBooks allowed users to upgrade RAM, in all current MacBooks, MacBook Pros and Airs the RAM is soldered to the logicboard. This is why it is important to configure as much RAM as you need at purchase and to consider how much RAM you may need in the future.
Upgrading to the maximum — 16GB — is just $200 more. The slender MacBook Air has one thing Apple’s other laptops are lacking — “normal” ports and not the USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports found on the MacBook and MacBook Pro. Like the MacBook, the MacBook Air is outfitted with a standard load of 8GB of RAM. The last thing you do to free RAM is to look for and find some efficient cleaning applications. For instance, MacFly Pro is a great digital software and document scanner that will take care of your PC. With this app, you will forget about the necessity to clean Mac manually since it will do it for you in a matter of minutes.

Macbook Air Memory Upgrade
- When you duplicate a file on an APFS-formatted volume, that file doesn't use additional storage space on the volume. Deleting a duplicate file frees up only the space required by any data you might have added to the duplicate. If you no longer need any copies of the file, you can recover all of the storage space by deleting both the duplicate and the original file.

One of the most common questions we get is, “Can I upgrade the MacBook Air RAM or memory?” Although you can upgrade the RAM on older MacBooks and MacBook Pros, there is no way to upgrade MacBook Air RAM or memory after you buy the notebook.
Apple offers a MacBook Air RAM upgrade, but you need to choose it before you buy the MacBook Air. As part of the process to make this notebook slim, Apple solders the MacBook Air RAM directly to the motherboard.
This means there is no way for you, the average user, to do a MacBook Air RAM upgrade after you buy the notebook from Apple. If you are looking for a way to improve the performance of your old MacBook Air, you will need to look elsewhere.
What you need to know about MacBook Air RAM upgrade options.
Apple also boosted the base amount of MacBook Air RAM to a more reasonable 4GB in 2014. That is enough for many users, especially those that don’t run a lot of multimedia applications simultaneously.
Here are the MacBook Air RAM upgrade options and prices for the current MacBook Air models. You can customize this when buying from Apple. Most of the time you will only see the 4GB MacBook Air memory option at retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, but stores like MacMall will offer some with 8GB of RAM.
When you look at MacBook Air memory upgrade options on Apple you will see;
- 4GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
- 8GB 1600MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
There is a $100 price increase to upgrade to the 8GB MacBook Air RAM option. This is the only time you can make this memory upgrade, so it is something many users will want to choose.
You cannot buy MacBook Air memory upgrades like you can for some notebooks.
If you want more RAM than the base 4GB, you may need to order online as not every Apple Store will stock MacBook Airs with the exact amount of RAM and storage you want. You can still choose delivery to the closest Apple store so you can get help setting up the notebook.
For users with an older MacBook Air, there is a software tool that can help you free up RAM, but reviews show that it may not improve the performance that much. The Memory Booster – RAM Optimizer for Mac app is available in the Mac App Store for free. You can download it to see if it helps deliver upgraded performance. If you find similar options, it is not advisable to pay for an app like this unless you can try it first and you experience a big improvement on your MacBook Air.
While you can’t upgrade the MacBook Air’s RAM, there are aftermarket kits to upgrade the MacBook Air’s SSD.
