Write A Dmg File To A Flash Drive

admin

Modern day laptops and systems do not have CD or DVD writers and you need a bootable USB drive to load or install operating systems. There are a lot of tools out there to create bootable USB drives from ISO files. Some tools allow you to create a single OS USB drive while some others are multiboot drive creators. But to transfer it into a drive does not mean that you have to barely copy paste the image file into the USB drive. In order to burn ISO image files to USB drive, you need to embark with certain other methods to create a separate partition of boot sector within the drive where the compressed files of the ISO image file can become executable. To export files from your computer to a USB flash drive, use these steps: Open File Explorer. Click on This PC from the left pane. Connect the removable drive to your PC's USB port. A Mac machine needs to be reformatted with Lion. I backed up the Lion dmg file when I purchased it via the Mac App Store. I now need to create a bootable USB drive from the DMG file but I need to be. Open File Explorer and go to the folder containing the DMG2IMG program, then right-click and select 'Open command windows here.' Type the following command and hit Enter: dmg2img sourcefile.dmg destinationfile.iso Step 3. Now that the DMG file has been converted to ISO format, you can use the following command to burn it to a disk.

Possible? My friend is getting a new iMac and won't have a DVD reader. She stopped using Quicken when she switched to Mac. So I'm not asking about Quicken but I guess dmg files, specifically Turbo Tax.
Some of you (John NC, JM, etc.) know a lot. She buys the Turbo Tax CD. It has both Windows and Mac on it. I'm thinking if she buys the CD I can copy the mac file(s) to a flash drive to install on her Mac? I put the 2016 TT CD in my Windows 8.1 computer but can't see the Mac files to copy. Is there a way? I have Show Hidden Files.

So never mind. Guess it's not possible without doing more steps. I'll try to get her to buy the download.

Why does she still need or buy the CD version? Since you need to buy a new version every year for TT, why wouldn't she just buy the download version going forward? (Alternatively, if there's really some compelling reason to get the CD version each year, why not buy an external DVD drive? They cost all of about $25-$30, so if she's going to use it for multiple years, it's a negligible cost.)

Mac cleaner cnet. Why does she still need or buy the CD version? Since you need to buy a new version every year for TT, why wouldn't she just buy the download version going forward? She is older and doesn't understand anything. She buys the CD from Costco. I go over and install it and do her taxes. The apple DVD external drive is 79.99. Turbo Tax is the only thing she would need it for.

If she doesn't understand, just tell her not to buy anything until you come over. And then when you do, you can initiate the purchase and have her just punch in her credit card, and she'll get the software for less, with no hassle about a CD.
As for a DVD drive, if this is really all she'd use it for, there's certainly no need to get the premium Apple DVD drive for $80. There are lot of the drives out the in the $25-$30 range; buy one for her on Amazon and tell her to pay you when you come over. But really, convince her not to buy the TT CD at Costco; tell her she's buying an old version (which is technically true, since the first thing it does is download the most current version), and you can help her do the whole thing online in just a few minutes. (I digress, but.. remember when just downloading TT file updates could take 30 minutes or more via dial-up modem?!)
