  1. By utilizing elemental Blade Combos, Driver Combos, Fusion Combos, Elemental Orbs, and Chain Attacks in just the right way, you can pull off techniques that deal truly delightful amounts of damage. How to Complete Elemental Blade Combos in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. A Blade Combo begins when you unleash a Special Attack of any level on an enemy. A timer with an element attached to it appears on the top-right of the enemy's health bar alongside a rather confusing pyramid of elemental icons.
  2. He's pretty terrible damage-wise. Basically you use roc for three reasons 1.He's Rex's only blade with access to smash, 2.Wild Scythes gives you evasion, which you can time to completely avoid near fatal attacks, which become increasingly frequent as you continue in the story, 3.To fill in the wind spot in a blade combo.

Xc2 Blade List

With evading attacjs giving yp to 250% more smg and tachyon giving 25% crit dmg she can keep up with the top really well. Also, qtpie has more dps. Dec 26, 2017  Guide on Rex's Blades. - Cancelling: Using a Driver Art just after an auto attack (almost instantly after) gives you a boost to your special’s meter. In addition, cancelling on the third hit of your characters auto attack animation boosts your special even more. Cancelling as a whole also raises your Party Meter very quickly. And what’s *more*, you can *also* cancel driver arts into your special. Using your special just after the hit of your driver art makes your party meter jump up dramatically, and can boost your special’s damage and level even higher. (I make a big deal out of cancelling because I think the game did a lax job of explaining).

- Blade Combos: These are pretty well explained in the tutorials, but what I did *not* know was that completing a level three chain attack is how you attach elemental orbs to enemies. The combo will attach an elemental orb the same type of the blade that finishes the combo (if Pyra finished, a fire orb would be attached, etc). Further more, you can not attach more than one E-orb of the same type to an enemy, so you shouldn’t repeat a blade combo if you can help it. This just means you should choose a different end to the blade combo, attaching a new orb. This leads into the last part,

- Chain Attacks: Elemental orbs are the only way to extend chain attacks beyond one round, and are key to making chain attacks truly useful. You should perform as many *different* blade combos as you can to attach as many orbs as possible to an enemy before starting a chain attack (obviously if the monster isn’t too strong, you can just use one orb or so). Then while you are in a chain attack, destroy elemental orbs by smashing them with three attacks, or with fewer if you use a blade of the opposite type to the orb (if orb is fire, using a water blade will take less hits to smash the orb). If you smash an orb, you get an extra round in your chain attack, and can smash more orbs, and so on.

Another key to chain attacks is the overkill feature. If you kill an enemy with a chain attack, you will enter overkill mode, where you just keep hitting the enemy until you run out of turns. The more damage you deal in overkill mode *greatly* increases the chances of a monster dropping rarer items. This means if you overkill named monsters, you have a pretty darn high chance of getting a rare or even legendary core crystal.
