Comment by Allakhazam Taking the average frostbolt of a mage with such ability to get this to be about 1,000 (assuming he has the new rank11 frostbolt) Changing your +hit values and +crit values into equiv +dam values, assuming your crit is around 15-20%, gives you +crit to be around 11 +dam and +hit to be around +13 dam, this is because frostbolt gets 80% of +dam, for fireball it would be. In the RPG

This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

The shadowmage is a warlock who focuses on the destructive powers of dark energies rather than conjuration and demonic pacts. All of their arcana are different.[1]

While most warlocks specialize in conjuration and demonic pacts, some focus on other areas of the dark arts. Shadowmages eschew summoning in favor of the destructive power of raw entropy. Some say shadowmages developed the shadow bolt spell, and it encapsulates their magical style. As well as fel evocations, shadowmages enjoy spells that weaken other's minds and bodies and those that create darkness. With their connection to shadow, voidwalkers are shadow mages' preferred fel companions. A shadowmage can travel between shadows, teleporting from one to another.[2]

    Greetings,
I apologize if this is a topic covered somewhere else, I couldn't find any information.
I am interested in learning to tank, and several classes have the ability to specifically reduce magic damage. Is there a way of knowing when damage is magical vs. physical? Something in the animations that indicates it? Or do I have to research enemies ahead of time to learn which attacks are magical and which are not?
Looking at the adventure guide for example doesn't clearly state whether an attack does magical damage or not. It states that the attack does fire damage (for example), or shadow damage. Do those count as magic damage?
    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
